July 29th the weather was calling for thunderstorms, 70% chance of them actually and the sky was looking pretty grim, but we held out hope for a this outdoor wedding. The bride had some backup plans in place, but the setting was so beautiful that it would have been so sad not to use it.
We were so lucky, the weather stayed beautiful, we had moments of dark sky when we thought the rain was on the way, but in the sun fought on and kept breaking through the clouds.
It was a beautiful day and Jaclyn was a beautiful bride, and not only beautiful outside but so sweet and beautiful on the inside! It was obvious from the moment I met her that she is a special person.
They made sure to incorporate Jaclyn’s adorable doggy into the pictures, and he cooperated perfectly.
Thanks you Scott and Jaclyn for allowing me to be part of your special day, I am so happy for you guys and wish you long and happy life together!
PS I will likely be posting a part two eventually because you all haven’t even seen how gorgeous their ceremony or reception was yet….

I want to tell you about some new things happening over here at Lily Pond Photography, after much consideration and soul searching I have decided to take what I specialize in and make it exclusively what I do.
Up until now I have done all types of sessions but I want to move away from that and move almost exclusively to Birth and children (included newborns and everything related to birth/pregnancy)
This is a bit of a scary decision but I really feel like it is the right one to focus on what I love and where my passion is. I may still make an exception for another session type.
I have also decided to support what I think is the best choice a woman can make regarding her labour (second maybe to hiring me ) and offer a discount to ladies who have also hired a birth doula for their birth. I strongly believe a doula should be at every birth and I want to help make it possible for women to have both.

High School…there is nothing like it. It seems like it will last forever and you can hardly wait until it is over and then suddenly the countdown is days instead of years and the feelings become mixed. Saying goodbye to friends and family as you go off to university or whatever is next. Growing up suddenly seems so close and while exciting it can also be so scary. I remember it so clearly.
I was so honoured when my friend Jasmine asked me to take her prom pictures. Jasmine sings with us on a church worship team and her voice is just beautiful. She has become a dear friend and I have loved watching her grow and mature and get ready for life after high school but I will be so sad to say goodbye.
It ended up being even more fun thought because instead of just shooting Jasmine and her boyfriend I was able to shoot 4 other friends of hers some who I know as well and some who I hadn’t had the pleasure of meeting prior to this. They all looked so beautiful/handsome and I am so excited for them as they move on to the next stage in their lives.

I first met Sarah when she was already in labour with her son, but we had chatted a lot via email. When I came she had progressed very quickly and was just beginning to get some relief after an epidural.
I spent the next 12 hours with her, her husband and her mother and witnessed their love and support for her. It was obvious that there is a lot of love in this family and that this baby was already well loved.
Time went on and baby boy was just too comfortable in the womb so the Doctor and Midwife advised a c-section.
An hour later Sarah’s mom and I were called in to meet the new baby.
He was a gloriously chubby little guy who seemed to be very content in his new environment with his mommy and daddy. He sucked happily on his little hands while his mum recovered and his dad and grandma checked him out.
I was so blessed to be a part of this experience. It didn’t go the way they had planned but their strength and devotion to each other was so beautifully evident. I know that this little boy will be well loved by his mommy and daddy and his grandma.
Congratulations Sarah and Justin!
