52 week project – wk 2

January 14th, 2013

This past week the theme for Paint the Moon’s 52 week “This is Our Life” project was “This makes me laugh“. It took me all week to figure out what picture to use. A lot of little things make me laugh every day but for some reason I wasn’t really sure how to interpret those things into a picture.

I finally decided on this picture because it was such a silly afternoon. My nephews were over and any time they come over the costumes come out immediately. My oldest nephew is completely obsessed with Superheros and especially Spiderman, so he of course is always Spiderman. His brother (not in this picture) is always the Flash (actually those are the only 2 Superhero costumes we own, we own a lot of princess dresses…) and of course my silly daughter is always in a princess dress and an assortment of accessories.

I think it’s the combination of the poofy princess dresses and the superhero costumes that makes is so silly, or the the fact that despite the poofy Belle dress Aurora still thinks she is a superhero and tries to do the moves the boys do…

This was also my little Gideon’s first time painting. He really enjoyed it and got angry when it was time to stop which made me laugh to.

As you may or may not know, I am a member of a wonderful organization called The Maple Leaf Mission. I’ve been with them for over a year now and yesterday was my first session! I’ve been anxiously waiting for my chance to do one! (I’ve been given a few others but they keep getting postponed due to illness and weather so those are all still in the works. )
It was a bit of a drive yesterday to meet this super guy, but well worth it (not to mention, he lives in a beautiful town! and it was a great day for a drive) he was such joy and I loved hanging out with him!
Meet “K” he does not let Asbergers Syndrome and severe ADHD stop him from being super and fighting bad guys.  He has a TON of energy, I don’t think I’ve ever met a kid that is as fast as him. (including my nephew who is very very fast) I was literally RUNNING almost this whole session! But was also laughing and enjoying playing with him. Did I mention that I had to change my name to “Poison Ivy”? Yup, and I spent some time in jail for attempting to “kiss” batman. ;)
K is interested in photography himself and actually took a few pictures of his mom and of me during our session. It was pretty hard to get my camera back from him actually!! I wish I had brought a second camera. (and definitely would have if I had known that he is into photography) He was really working it and I wish I could have caught him in action!
Here are a few photos of K that I took between jail times and having my own picture taken. :)
